This annual event provides funding for our school and church, as well as the funds to purchase the medications and supplies necessary for the annual Friends of Bolivia medical mission.
The Catholic School of St. Eugene exists to assist families in Roman Catholic faith formation and education of their children. Our school is called to witness the Gospel values through service to church and community. Through the diversity of our God-given gifts, we provide a Christ-centered, academic curriculum. We recognize and value the individual needs of each student and foster spiritual growth, personal responsibility, and the self-discipline needed to maintain a Catholic identity in today’s constantly changing world.
Friends of Bolivia was formed by St. Eugene's parishioner Rafeal Elias to provide Christian-based medical assistance, love and hope to the many poor and needy of Bolivia. Each year the group, comprised of fellow parishioners and other volunteers from the Oklahoma City area, as well as medical professionals from Bolivia, travel to provide medical, pediatric, dental and optical care to over 1,000 Bolivians, who would not otherwise be able to receive these necessary services. All personal costs for travel are provided by each individual on the trip. No one receives any pay or remuneration. All management, planning and medical services provided by the organization are done on a strictly volunteer basis. Because of this, Friends of Bolivia can say nearly 100% of donated funds go directly to help the needy by purchasing medicines and supplies for the missions.
