Fr. Joseph Jacobi
Fr. Joseph Andrew Jacobi was born on November 20, 1963, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Andrew (now deceased) and Mary Jacobi as their firstborn child. He was baptized on December 1, 1963, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sterling, Oklahoma. Fr. Jacobi has two sisters (Anne and Maureen) and two brothers (David and Martin) and four nieces.
He attended 12 years of school at Lone Grove Schools in southern Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school in 1982. After high school, he went for two years to Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, and then he entered Conception Seminary College in the Fall of 1984. Fr. Jacobi graduated from Conception in 1986 and then attended The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C. for graduate school, obtaining a M.A. in Theology in 1989. He then spent a Pastoral Year at Christ the King Parish, followed by one more year at CUA. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City on June 1, 1991, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oklahoma City.
Fr. Jacobi served as Associate Pastor at St. John the Baptist in Edmond from 1991-1994; Associate Pastor of St. Peter in Guymon and its two missions, Sacred Heart in Hooker and Good Shepherd in Boise City from 1994-1997; Pastor at Prince of Peace Church in Altus and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hollis from 1997-2002; Pastor at St. Eugene in Oklahoma City from 2002 - 2013; and Pastor at Holy Spirit Church in Mustang from 2014 - present. During his time at St. John the Baptist he also served as Chaplain at Bishop McGuinness High School for one year and Chaplain at the University of Central Oklahoma for three years. He presently serves on the Council of Priests and has served several previous terms on this council during his priesthood. Fr. Jacobi also is a member of the Archdiocesan Review Board and Pastors Advisory Committee. He has been a Spiritual Director in the Cursillo Movement for 20 years, and has served as the Spiritual Advisor for the Cursillo Movement for the past 10 years. He is currently completing a 3-year program of Spiritual Direction Training for Priests through the Institute for Priestly Formation.
Fr. Jacobi finds much joy in preaching, teaching, and in being a spiritual director for individuals as well as being a spiritual director for Cursillos for men and women or directing group retreats. A special blessing throughout his 25 years of priesthood has been ministering to Spanish-speaking Catholics from many parts of Mexico, and from all over Central and South America. While at St. Eugene, he participated in two medical mission trips to Bolivia and also was active in the life of St. Eugene Catholic School, where he was blessed to come to know many students and their families, and minister with dedicated faculty, staff, and administration.
Fr. Jacobi enjoys sports, reading, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and present and former parishioners.
